Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. in Greencastle, PA is seeking a Class A CDL Yard Truck Driver for local yard work and day-cab operations. You will drive in local routes, with a 40-hour week, and enjoy weekly pay of $28.00 per hour plus $1.00 shift pay.

Tractors are day cab/yard tractors; trailers include dry van 48', 53’, and Pup; no-touch freight. Expect a schedule of Wednesday–Saturday with 6:00 PM dispatch, trucks 36+ months old, and excellent benefits after 30 days, PTO, and 401(k).

Qualifications

• 21+ years old and eligible for employment.
• Must have a Class A CDL with required endorsements.
• Endorsements as applicable to the position.
• Able to drive a manual transmission vehicle.
• Pass Ryder drug test, background check, DOT physical, and road test.
• Experience with tractor trailers or similar vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Safely handle and maneuver tractor trailers on yard and roads.
• Comply with safety and DOT regulations; participate in training.
• Maintain accurate logs and yard inventory records.
• Support safety, and follow company policies during operations.

Requirements

• Minimum 21 years of age
• Pass a Ryder Drug Test
• Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position
• Must have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle:
• 9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR
• 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR
• 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years
• Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
• Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations policies and/or procedures

Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification; motor vehicle records check and a road test; and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.

Responsibilities

• This position is primarily responsible for safely handling and maneuvering tractor trailers on the yard and within an area on public roads
• The position requires compliance with safety & DOT Regulations, continuous training and customer service

Additional Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

• Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines
• Detecting and eliminating or minimizing safety hazards
• Maintaining accurate records and logs
• Maintaining accurate move and yard inventory records Other tasks as assigned
