Job summary

Penske is seeking dedicated Apprentice Class A CDL Truck Drivers to join a nationally respected logistics team. You’ll operate late model Penske trucks, learn from on-the-job training, and earn while you train.

You can expect daily home time, overtime after 40 hours, and strong benefits as you complete the apprentice program. Applicants should be Penske CDL School graduates or veterans/active service members.

Qualifications

  • Must graduate Penske approved CDL School or be a current/former member of the US Armed Forces.
  • Valid Class A CDL; domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in their state.
  • DOT medical card current or obtainable; clean DMV/MVR record with limited violations.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver aluminum scrap and coils for a world leader in rolled aluminum products.
  • Home daily; operate late model Penske Truck Leasing trucks with safety features.
  • Follow schedule: five-day work week; nights and weekends as required.

  • Earn $26.00 per hour with overtime after 40 hours until apprentice program is complete

Qualifications:
  • Must be a graduate of a Penske approved CDL School (CDL 160, Ivy Tech, Truck Drivers Institute, New England Tractor Trailer Training School), or a current or former member of the US Armed Forces
  • Valid Class A CDL required. Applicants must be domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in their state of residence
  • Currently hold, or ability to obtain, a non-excepted interstate DOT medical card required
  • 3 years DMV/MVR record with two or fewer moving violations or accidents
  • Follow all federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines
  • In order to be compliant with federal law (49 C.F.R. 391.11(b)(2)), this role requires English language proficiency
  • Work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening required.
  • This position is regulated by the Department of Transportation or designated as safety sensitive by the company, and the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is required. Associates must have the ability to accept responsibility for their own safety, as well as the safety of others.

The associate is frequently required to use hands to touch, handle, and feel, and to reach with hands and arms. The associate must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs/23kg and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100lbs/45kg.
  • The associate must be able to legally operate a motor vehicle and safely and frequently enter/exit the vehicle as well as the rear cargo area.
