Job summary

Goodwill of Central and Coastal Virginia is seeking a transportation associate to safely operate delivery equipment for donated goods. You will adhere to organizational policies, perform pre-trip inspections, and report issues to the Dispatcher to ensure efficient routing and on-time deliveries.

The role requires a valid state driver’s license, clean driving record, and the ability to work independently while delivering excellent customer service to internal and external customers.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred. Will consider a combination of education and work experience.
• 1 year experience in a related field required.
• No professional certifications are required for this position.
• Valid state driver's license, insurance and satisfactory driving record are required.
• Associates in this position will be required to successfully pass a criminal background check and sex offender check.
• No computer skills are required.
• 1 year of previous truck driving experience required.

Responsibilities

• Completes pre-trip inspections and notify management team of any equipment issues or concerns.
• Follows all organizational safety regulations in the pick-up and delivery of donated goods and other items.
• Ensures all required paperwork and updates are communicated to the Dispatcher or designee.
• Safely, accurately and efficiently ensures loads are secure before transport, following all route assignments and all items are delivered to the correct destination.
• Must be able to work independently without the need for close, direct supervision, while exercising good judgement in behaviors and communication, providing outstanding customer service to internal and external customers.
