Job Overview

As a Truck Driver at Steel Technologies, you’ll operate a heavy-capacity commercial truck to transport freight between locations, from suppliers, and to customers. Our focus is on timely, quality deliveries and exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

1. Operate trucks with capacities over 3 tons, including tractor-trailer combinations, to deliver steel products.
2. Perform daily vehicle inspections and maintain safety and emergency equipment.
3. Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damages.
4. Manoeuver trucks into loading/unloading positions, following signals and ensuring proper positioning.
5. Secure cargo using ropes, chains, binders, or covers and inspect securement devices.
6. Inspect materials for defects before and after trips.
7. Maintain inspection paperwork and documentation related to accidents or defects.
8. Follow scheduled pickup and delivery routes.

Requirements

• Ability to operate a clutch pedal and tractor trailer for up to 10 hours.
• Knowledge of DOT and FMCSR regulations, and applicable state laws.
• Class A CDL license with two years of driving experience, preferably in steel hauling.
• Ability to climb on/off trailers and lift up to 50 pounds.
