American Wood Fibers (AWF) seeks a Regional Truck Driver for the First Shift in Schofield, WI. This slip-seat role shares a truck with another driver and involves delivering and picking up materials to customers and suppliers in a safe, efficient manner.

The position requires a valid CDL-A, 21+ years old, HS diploma or GED, and ability to lift 50 lbs and read/speak English. Compensation includes per-trip pay, hourly non-driver time, and several bonuses.

Regional Truck Driver (First Shift)

American Wood Fibers (AWF) is a manufacturer of both consumer and industrial products that are sold to multiple manufacturers as well as pet, agricultural, and home-heating markets. AWF is comprised of 450+ employees and holds operations at 11 locations, generating over $100M in annual sales revenue. We are currently seeking a candidate for the Regional Truck Driver role in .

JOB SUMMARY

The First Shift Regional Truck Driver is considered a “slip-seat” position, where the driver will share a truck with a FirstShift Driver. This role is responsible for delivering and/or picking up bulk/packaged material from suppliers or to customers in a safe and fuel-efficient manner. Primary duties to include, but are not limited to the following:

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

I. DELIVERING/PICK-UP OF MATERIALS

• The majority of loads in this role are drop & hook
• Deliver and/or pickup bulk/packaged material from suppliers or to customers in a safe, legal, and fuel-efficient manner, while exercising good judgment regarding weather and road conditions
• Drivers are required to assist in the loading and unloading of trailers
• Loading of trailers requires the ability to climb ladders, roll tarps back on top of the trailers, as well as the ability to climb into the back of the trailers
• Drivers must be able to drop and hook a trailer, which requires disconnecting hoses and cranking trailer landing gear up and down

II. PAPERWORK

• Maintain accurate log book via onboard ELD according to ICC regulations, Driver’s Trip Record, and fuel reports

III. COMMUNICATION

• Inspect truck and trailer for defects before and after trips and inform maintenance of any defects or issues
• Coordinate with Dispatcher to set up trucking schedule
• Provide feedback regarding changes in scheduling, delivery, pick-up or unloading times

IV. PERSONAL GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT

• Responsible for staying up-to-date with commercial driving regulations and required skills
• Attend and participate in scheduled driver and safety meetings
• Establish good rapport with customers/suppliers while providing feedback regarding customer/supplier needs
• Establish personal goals and work with fellow employees toward continuous improvement and teamwork
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• Valid Class A CDL Driver’s License REQUIRED
• Minimum of 21 years of age
• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to speak and read the English language
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
• Physical capability to bend, climb, squat or stoop

EXPERIENCE LEVEL

• Minimum 1 year of Heavy Tractor Trailer driving experience with a clean driving record

COMPENSATION

• Paid per trip plus hourly wage for most non-drive time work
