Job summary

Silgan Plastic Food Containers in Union, Missouri, is seeking an Operator Assistant to unload/load materials, drive between warehouses, and assist in production. This role requires manual dexterity, the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and adherence to safety procedures.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma, 2–5 years related experience, CDL A, and forklift certification. Prior experience with 53' trailers is preferred, along with basic computer skills.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year experience transporting, hooking up/off a 53' box trailer.
• Understanding of plant safety rules and regulations, Hazard Communication program.

Responsibilities

• Check stock inventory physically and update system to validate restocking is in order.
• Drive truck to and from warehouses.
• Load and unload finished goods and packaging.
• Receive incoming raw materials and draw samples.
• Move bulk raw materials from railcars to silo storage.
• Perform duties in accordance with the Handling, Storage QOP.
• Properly store and keep records of regrind and globs.
• Assist in Production Department when needed.
• Perform other duties required by the QMS, as assigned.
• Conduct duties according to plant safety policies and procedures.

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

Warehouses raw materials and finished products. Loads outgoing trucks with finished product. Receives incoming purchased goods. Shuttles product to and from warehouses.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Check stock inventory physically and update into system to validate that restocking is in order.
• Drive truck to and from warehouses.
• Load and unload finished goods and packaging.
• Receive incoming raw materials and draw samples (see also Incoming Inspection and Testing Procedure).
• Move bulk supplied raw materials from railcars to silo storage.
• Perform duties in accordance with the Handling, Storage QOP.
• Properly store and keep records of regrind and globs.
• Assist in Production Department when needed.
• Perform other duties required by the QMS, as assigned.
• Conduct duties according to plant safety policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum high school education, or equivalent, and 2 to 5 years related experience.
• CDL A driver's license, no restrictions.
• Minimum of 1 year experience transporting, hooking up/ off a 53' box trailer.
• Understanding of plant safety rules and regulations, particularly the Hazard Communication program.
• Computer skills.
• Current forklift certification.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work in a 100-degree environment (summer months).
