Truck Driver (Transportation)
Job Summary
Must be able to drive a commercial motor vehicle in a safe, efficient, and responsible manner, obeying all federal, state, and local laws governing the driving of said vehicle while providing exemplary customer service.
Qualifications
- 6-12 months of commercial driving experience
- High school diploma/GED or state-approved equivalent
- Valid CDL A, CDL B, or Regular License
- Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable)
- Must be 21 years of age
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years
- Pass post-job offer drug test and criminal background check
- Pass road test
- Valid current DOT Health Card and/or able to secure new DOT Health Card
- Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift; generally between 10-35 pounds and up to 60-90 pounds depending on the location
Responsibilities
- Drive a straight truck intrastate and/or interstate on local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and/or overnight routes to deliver and unload food and related products to customers
- Complete all routes safely in accordance with company policies and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
- Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers, ensuring all services and duties are executed per work methods and customer service standards
- Perform safety checks (pre/post trip), including inspections of the truck according to DOT regulations; ensure trucks meet safety standards and address issues as needed
- Report safety issues or repairs required
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving policies
- Immediately report safety hazards
- Inspect trailers for proper loading and securing of freight
- Perform count checks of items and verify customer invoices
- Complete all required freight paperwork accurately and legibly
- Drive to and deliver customer orders according to scheduled routes
- Unload products, transport items into customer storage areas, and perform damage control checks
- Verify deliveries with customers and obtain signatures
- Load customer returns, secure trailers, and ensure proper locking
- Unload damaged goods and returns, complete necessary paperwork, and maintain cleanliness in trucks and trailers
- Perform general housekeeping duties and other related tasks as assigned
