Job summary

MKC is seeking a dependable Truck Driver to deliver grain to MKC facilities and customers, and to deliver fertilizer to field equipment or customers. Maintain trucks and keep them clean while complying with safety rules and DOT regulations.

You will promote the cooperative’s mission, provide outstanding customer service, and perform required maintenance while supporting teamwork and a positive image of MKC.

Qualifications

  • Operational knowledge of trucks at the assigned location and knowledge of applicable OSHA, state, EPA and DOT regulations.
  • A valid Commercial Driver’s License (A) with Hazardous Materials and Tanker Endorsements.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Ability to interact with customers professionally and resolve issues.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver loads of grain to customers or MKC grain facilities.
  • Deliver loads of fertilizer to MKC equipment in the field or to customers.
  • Maintain equipment per manufacturers’ manuals and report maintenance needs to Lead Truck Driver.
  • Greet customers courteously and resolve problems with supervisor guidance.
  • Ensure customers are informed of safe product handling.
  • Increase personal knowledge and skills through training and meetings.
  • Ensure equipment meets applicable regulations and report unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain a clean, professional appearance for self and equipment.
  • Complete special projects as assigned by Lead Truck Driver.

Description

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible to drive a grain truck and deliver grain to MKC grain facilities or to customer. They will also deliver fertilizer to MKC equipment in the field or to customers. They will perform maintenance on their trucks and keep their vehicle clean. They will perform their responsibilities in a manner that will optimize the cooperative’s market share and savings, improve the cooperative’s efficiency, help achieve the cooperative’s mission and goals, and provide outstanding customer service. The truck driver will maintain a positive attitude that promotes teamwork within the entire cooperative and a favorable image of the cooperative.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Current operational knowledge of trucks located at assigned location and knowledge of applicable OSHA, State, EPA, and DOT regulations.
  2. Commercial Driver’s License (A) with Hazardous Materials and Tanker Endorsements.
  3. Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
  4. Ability to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
  5. Ability to deal with emotional customers and help resolve complaints.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

Eye protection and hard hat is required in restricted areas.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

A high school degree or GED.

JOB DUTIES:
  1. Deliver loads of grain to customer or MKC grain facilities.
  2. Deliver loads of fertilizer to MKC equipment in the field or to customers.
  3. Maintain their equipment properly and in accordance with manufacture’s maintenance manuals and operator manuals. Report need for maintenance work or replacement of equipment to Lead Truck Driver when necessary.
  4. Greet customers promptly and courteously with a friendly smile and hello and thank them for their business. Work with your customers to resolve problems and report any problems to your supervisor.
  5. Ensure customers are informed of safe product handling.
  6. Actively work to increase personal knowledge and skills.
  7. Attend training meetings as requested.
  8. Ensure equipment meets federal, state, and OSHA regulations. Report any unsafe working conditions to Lead Truck Driver.
  9. Maintain a clean and professional appearance for yourself and your equipment.
  10. Complete special projects assigned by Lead Truck Driver.
WORKING CONDITIONS:

Job involves work inside a climate-controlled truck cab and outside in hot and cold weather.
