Position Overview

This is a skilled position involving the safe and efficient operation of transfer trucks and dump trucks (with and without pup trailers and tarping systems). Drivers deliver all types of aggregates, including asphalt, to residential and commercial locations. The role emphasizes customer-centric service and adherence to CRH safety policies. Priority is customer delivery, with internal support for asphalt paving.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties And Functions)
  • Operate end dumps and/or belly dumps (with and without pups) and related equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Keep time and material records.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Know different types and sizes of aggregates.
  • Maneuver and back with pup trailer.
  • Communicate effectively on the radio system.
  • Connect and disconnect pup trailer.
Qualifications

Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED required; one to two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination.

  • Must possess a valid state commercial driver’s license (CDL) Class A with double/triple and air brake endorsements.
  • Must possess a valid Medical Card as per DOT standard.
  • One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination.
  • Incident‑free driving record preferred.
  • May be subject to drug, alcohol, and physical agilities testing.
  • Ability to communicate using two‑way radio.
  • Basic math.
  • Basic computer skills preferred.

Physical Requirements

The employee is frequently required to sit, climb, hand signal, and handle equipment. Occasionally required to stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, reach above shoulders, lift/move up to 50 lbs. Requires good vision (close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception).

Work Environment

Occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, outside weather, extreme cold or heat. Noise level is usually moderate.
