Job Description

To perform routine skilled work in the operation of motor trucks and light duty motor equipment. The qualified applicant’s job duties are to be performed keeping safety as a primary objective and following established GMP, Safety and Stratas Foods procedures and policies.

Responsibilities

• The CDL A Driver is responsible for delivering full trailer loads of 20+ pallets to Stratas Foods customers throughout the Northeast. Deliveries are made within a 250-mile radius, with the driver returning home each night. Minimal handling of product is required, utilizing electric jacks. Work is scheduled Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends.
• Prepares and maintains appropriate paperwork and records related to shipments and deliveries.
• Maintains vehicle and equipment operational records.
• Requires obtaining and exchanging information, referring inquiries to the appropriate source, or responding to questions regarding shipments.
• Knowledge of state laws pertaining to the operation of equipment on highways.

Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent. Must possess a valid CDL Class A New Jersey driver’s license.

The job involves working in both standard office and manufacturing plant environments, with exposure to loud noises, dust, dirt, heat, sparks, oil, and smoke. Personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, appropriate clothing, and hard hats are required in manufacturing plants. Activities include extended periods of sitting and standing.

• 3–5 years’ experience operating motor-driven equipment.
• Knowledge of the principles of operation of motor equipment sufficient to detect defective operation.
• Clean driving record with an updated MVR.
• Valid DOT Physical card.
• Ability to pass a road test.
• Knowledge of the Northeast Region.
• Knowledge of the food service industry is a plus.
• Ability to drive both manual and automatic transmissions.
• Experience with modern, updated equipment.
• Starting times vary based on delivery locations.

Additional Information

Physical Requirements: Sitting, walking, climbing as needed in a manufacturing environment. The employee will be on their feet most of the shift, with occasional lifting, climbing stairs and ladders, including rail cars and trucks. The ability to lift 50 pounds, bend, kneel, stand for long periods, work in small spaces, and at heights is required.

Sensory Skills: Good listening skills; ability to communicate effectively with personnel at all levels. Sensory testing of in-process and finished products is required, with the ability to distinguish issues by taste, smell, or sight.

Mental/Reasoning Skills: Organizational, decision-making, multi-tasking, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced environment.
