Job summary

Herc Rentals is seeking a Truck Driver to transport, deliver, and retrieve assorted construction equipment with both commercial and non-commercial vehicles. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, at least 1 year of driving experience or a valid CDL, and a valid DOT medical card.

You will perform DOT inspections, secure loads, and maintain delivery documents while communicating with dispatch to ensure on-time deliveries. Pay range is $27-$30 per hour.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of verifiable driving experience, or a valid CDL.
• Valid DOT medical card.
• Trailer towing or rollback experience preferred.
• Hauling experience preferred.
• Construction equipment operating experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transport, deliver, and retrieve construction equipment.
• Operate commercial and non-commercial vehicles.
• Perform DOT pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Maintain delivery documents for inspection.
• Secure loads using chaining, strapping, and binding per DOT procedures.
• Maintain open communication with the Branch Manager and/or central dispatch regarding delivery schedules, delays, traffic conditions, weather, and other factors.
• Actively participate in the Herc Rentals safety culture, prioritizing safety.
• Follow all company procedures and protocols.
• Build positive relationships with customers.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Purpose

The Truck Driver position is responsible for transporting, delivering, and retrieving assorted construction and heavy equipment in a professional, safe, and timely manner. An individual in this role will operate both commercial and non-commercial vehicles.

What you will do...

• Transport, deliver, and retrieve various construction materials and heavy equipment
• Operate commercial and non-commercial vehicles
• Perform DOT-required pre-trip and post-trip inspections
• Properly maintain delivery documents for inspection upon request
• Secure construction equipment and other loads using chaining, strapping, and binding in strict accordance with established DOT procedures
• Maintain open communication with the Branch Manager and/or central dispatch regarding delivery schedules, delays, traffic conditions, weather, and other factors
• Actively participate in the Herc Rentals safety culture, always prioritizing the safety of people
• Follow all company procedures and protocols
• Build positive relationships with customers
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

Skills

• Ability to operate large, heavy machinery
• Commercial driving skills for maneuvering at various speeds in difficult conditions, including heavy traffic, inclement weather, mountainous terrain, and tight loading dock areas
• Knowledge and understanding of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
• Ability to read and comprehend standard operating procedures, owner's manuals, and product/warning labels
• Customer service focused, with the ability to build strong customer relationships
• Ability to react to changing business needs
• Ability to read, type, and write as needed to complete documentation
• Ability to safely lift 50 pounds or more frequently
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors as required
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, and maintain balance for extended periods
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks, including stretching, turning, twisting, and reaching overhead
• Ability to bend, crouch, squat, kneel, and stoop for extended periods

Pay Range:$27-$30 per hour
