Job summary

Herc Rentals is seeking a Truck Driver to transport, deliver, and retrieve construction equipment across locations. You will operate both commercial and non-commercial vehicles and perform DOT inspections to ensure safety and compliance.

Responsibilities include securing loads, maintaining delivery records, and coordinating with dispatch. A high school diploma, 1 year driving experience or CDL, and a valid DOT card are required; trailer/haul experience is preferred.

Job Purpose

The Truck Driver position is responsible for transporting, delivering, and retrieving assorted construction and heavy equipment in a professional, safe, and timely manner. An individual in this role will operate both commercial and non-commercial vehicles.

What you will do

• Transport, deliver, and retrieve various construction materials and heavy equipment
• Operate commercial and non-commercial vehicles
• Perform DOT-required pre-trip and post-trip inspections
• Properly maintain delivery documents for inspection upon request
• Secure construction equipment and other loads using chaining, strapping, and binding in strict accordance with established DOT procedures
• Maintain open communication with the Branch Manager and/or central dispatch regarding delivery schedules, delays, traffic conditions, weather, and other factors
• Actively participate in the Herc Rentals safety culture, always prioritizing the safety of people
• Follow all company procedures and protocols
• Build positive relationships with customers
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 1 year of verifiable driving experience, or a valid CDL

• Construction equipment operating experience preferred

Skills

• Ability to operate large, heavy machinery
• Commercial driving skills for maneuvering at various speeds in difficult conditions, including heavy traffic, inclement weather, mountainous terrain, and tight loading dock areas
• Knowledge and understanding of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
• Ability to read and comprehend standard operating procedures, owner's manuals, and product/warning labels
• Customer service focused, with the ability to build strong customer relationships
• Ability to react to changing business needs
• Ability to read, type, and write as needed to complete documentation
• Ability to safely lift 50 pounds or more frequently
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors as required
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, and maintain balance for extended periods
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks, including stretching, turning, twisting, and reaching overhead
• Ability to bend, crouch, squat, kneel, and stoop for extended periods
