Job summary

Envirocon is seeking a Truck Driver to safely transport materials, soil, and equipment for remediation projects. You will operate large dump and water trucks, read site safety plans, and work outdoors under varied weather conditions.

The role requires reading SDS, following PPE rules, and maintaining a strong safety record. CDL is preferred; pre-employment screening and physicals are required for this safety-sensitive position.

Qualifications

  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening and physical.
  • HazWoper training may be required.
  • Valid driver's license; CDL preferred.
  • Ability to read safety plans and SDS.
  • Strong work ethic and safety-focused.

Responsibilities

  • Operate/drive 30-40 ton articulating dump trucks and 3,800 gallon water truck.
  • Read and interpret site-specific Safety Plans.
  • Work outdoors in hot and cold environments.
  • Wear PPE and follow safety procedures.
  • Read labels and waste manifests to avoid cross-contamination.
  • May assist in training new or less skilled Equipment Operators.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Move the Materials That Make Restoration Possible. Be a vital part of a long-term remediation project by safely transporting the materials, soil, and equipment needed to restore and reclaim the site.

The Truck Driver will operate various on and off-road trucks (30-40 ton articulating dump trucks, 3,800 gallon water truck) associated with dirt work construction. The Truck Driver must be able to demonstrate safe operation of any assigned vehicle based on changing travel (road) conditions. The Truck Driver is expected to use their experience and judgement to make decisions within their limits of authority.

  • Read and interpret site-specific Safety Plan at each site; may be amended daily.
  • Read and interpret equipment operator's manuals.
  • Operate/drive construction type truck/equipment.
  • Work in areas of uneven terrain.
  • Work outdoors in hot and cold environments.
  • Wear and work in different types of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Climbing/stooping while wearing PPE.
  • Read and comprehend container labels prior to touching or opening.
  • Read Safety Data Sheets (SDS) that accompany all new and existing chemicals brought to or used at the hazardous waste site.
  • Read manifests or waste stream labels on containers to avoid missing unlike waste streams shipped off site.
  • Ability to demonstrate common sense understanding and carrying out detailed written and oral instructions.
  • May assist in the training of new or less skilled Equipment Operators.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with a wide variety of individuals in person, via telephone, two-way radio and in writing.
  • Have a strong work ethic.
  • Perform operations using weights and measures, volumes, and distances.
  • Ability to interpret load charts and estimate weight.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend safety plans, rules, maintenance instructions, training manuals, Data Safety Sheets (SDS), warning tags, traffic signs and procedure manuals.
  • Must be physically able to perform job tasks.
  • Must be able to pass all required training i.e. HAZWOPER.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license, CDL preferred, and must meet the company's vehicle insurance requirement
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
  • Due to the physical and safety-sensitive nature of this position, candidates must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening and physical examination.
  • Required to participate in routine Medical Surveillances and substance abuse program.
