Job summary

Southway Crane & Rigging is seeking a CDL A driver with at least 3 years of commercial driving experience to load, transport, and unload cargo across long distances. You will perform vehicle inspections, maintain logs, and follow safety procedures on site and on the road.

The role requires passing a background check and drug test, with on-site skills verification prior to hire. Candidates must be able to operate with care, adhere to safety standards, and report any incidents to the dispatcher

Qualifications

• Current state issued Class A CDL Driver's License.
• Minimum 3 years of commercial driving experience.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload cargo.

• Take orders for new deliveries and drive long distances.
• Fuel up, clean truck, and wash windows.
• Report to a dispatcher any incidents encountered on the road.
• Monitor road conditions and watch for traffic congestion.
• Follow all applicable traffic laws.
• Inspect their trailer before and after the trip and record any defects they find.
• Follow accident procedures if an accident occurs.
• Keep a log of their activities.
• Report serious mechanical problems to the appropriate personnel.
• Keep their truck, and associated equipment, clean and in good working order

• Bending, stooping, lifting, seeing hearing, walking, ability to lift 75 lbs., twisting, crawling, climbing, squatting, kneeling, sitting and standing.
• Eyesight sufficient for operating a motor vehicle, inspection of equipment, and completion paperwork.
• Hearing sufficient for telephone contact and interpersonal communication with Customers and coworkers.
