Job summary

Pennsylvania Counseling Services, Inc. is seeking a Truancy Mentor to join the Check & Connect program, an evidence-based initiative focused on preventing truancy and keeping students engaged in their education. This role offers meaningful impact by guiding students back toward success.

The position supports a flexible schedule with significant field work, home visits, and coordination with school staff. A Bachelor's degree and background checks are required for consideration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Valid driver's license and car insurance.
  • PA State Police Criminal History Check required.
  • FBI Criminal Background Check completed through the Department of Human Services.
  • PA Childline Abuse History Clearance required.

Responsibilities

  • Engage directly with students to encourage school attendance and engagement.
  • Monitor attendance and follow up with students and families to address concerns.
  • Collaborate with school staff and community partners to develop intervention strategies.
  • Serve as a mentor, advocate, and service coordinator to help students overcome challenges.
  • Conduct home visits to stay connected with families and provide ongoing support.

Job description

  • Seasonal position: if hired for the full school year you could earn 258 summer paid time off hours; plus have the potential for an additional 120 hours of summer paid time off
  • Overtime hours available to enhance pay

We are seeking a Truancy Mentor to work within Check & Connect, an evidence-based program focused on preventing truancy and keeping students engaged in their education. What You’ll Do

As a Truancy Mentor, you will:

Compensation & Benefits
  • $18/hour
  • Mileage reimbursement: $0.50/mile
