Job summary

Billings Public Schools seeks a Journey Center Manager to oversee the Truancy Center with a 10-month, 8-hour day schedule (Mon–Fri). Salary is $28.27/hour with fully paid insurance, PERS retirement, and vacation/sick days.

The role requires a high school diploma and strong computer and interpersonal skills, with experience handling truancy processes with schools and social services. Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor's degree, five years of related experience, and the ability to coordinate

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; Bachelor’s in Education or Psychology preferred.
• Five years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong computer skills.
• Excellent interpersonal communication, problem-solving and behavior management.

Responsibilities

• Providing information by receiving incoming calls from schools, parents and community members.
• Notifying parents and schools that their student has been brought to the Truancy Center and giving pertinent details.
• Interpreting and implementing truancy laws to parents, school staff and community agencies.
• Relaying and gathering information from the County Superintendent's Office.
• Gathering and dispensing information to law enforcement, social services, and Juvenile Probation/Parole.
• Updating parents and school staff on students' progress while at the Center.
• Entering data into the computer database and writing reports to schools and law enforcement.
• Maintaining supplies and managing the Center budget.
• Supervising students, serving lunches, and escorts in and out of the Center.
• Making referrals to social services and counselors when necessary.
