Performs responsible duties related to the coordination of field crews for Power & Light Department service installations/upgrades, maintenance and repair of electrical system equipment and traffic signals. Receives calls; relays messages; and reports operating conditions, maintenance needs and emergency repairs for electrical equipment to department personnel. Receives and routes job orders for service hook-ups and service changes. Dispatches crews to locations assisting by providing information on electric system infrastructure such as fuse size/location, transformer size/location, etc. Maintains voice communication with field crews and supervisors. Coordinates electrical system switching and helps maintain accurate circuit maps. Coordinates appointments with other utilities regarding line locations and advises existing challenges. Assigns turn-ons after 5:00 p.m. Assists Customer Service in maintaining customer account records. Receives and handles customer complaints, answering questions and advising the public regarding power outages and other related Power & Light matters. Updates circuit board and book regarding construction and maintenance changes. Maintains daily log of activity and maintains knowledge of location of all vehicles in the field. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent; one year dispatch experience desired with demonstrated understanding of electrical terms and/or procedures. Knowledge of operation of radio communications equipment. Customer Service experience. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Must be able to complete required NIMS training within six months of hire.

Physical Demands

Work is performed in an office setting 100% of the time. Sitting for extended periods of time. Hand and finger dexterity to operate digital computer equipment and other related equipment.

Typical Working Conditions

Normal office setting. 12-hour shifts are required.

Drug testing and background check may be required.
