Join to apply for the TROOPS TO TECHNICIAN PROGRAM role at Airborne Maintenance and Engineering Services

Program Overview

Rewarding: Saluting our military "maintainers" by providing a pathway towards a career as Aviation Maintenance Technicians (AMT).

Knowledge: Transition military knowledge to meet commercial aviation standards, maintaining high-quality standards.

Pilot: The program will initially transition Veterans from MacDill AFB for employment at AIRBORNE Tampa, located at Tampa International Airport. The program is open to all military Veterans.

Eligibility and Requirements
  • Veterans, Military Spouses, and Transitioning Service Members on Terminal Leave by May 1st, 2022.
  • Must be on terminal leave or separated, to be employed full-time by AIRBORNE Tampa.
  • Cannot be dishonorably discharged.
  • Minimum 2 years of aircraft experience (first round only).
  • Able to pass a 10-year federal background check.

Position Description and Expectations

Summary: Troubleshoots, repairs, modifies, maintains, and overhauls aircraft, aircraft systems, and components according to policies, procedures, requirements, and specifications.

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications
  • Valid Airframe and Powerplant license (preferred).
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Honorable Discharge from military service.
  • Preferred: 2 years of commercial heavy jet experience in MRO setting or equivalent military experience.
  • Knowledge of maintenance manuals, technical drawings, and safety procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents.
  • Ability to obtain an airport SIDA badge.
Major Responsibilities
  • Follow written or verbal instructions.
  • Perform maintenance according to procedures.
  • Document work performed.
  • Use technical manuals and schematics.
  • Maintain A&P license and carry it when at work.
  • Perform troubleshooting, repairs, modifications, and overhauls.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, and work at heights.
  • Correctable vision, ability to hear, and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Handle small parts and operate hand tools properly.
Additional Details
  • Entry level, full-time position in Engineering and Information Technology within Airlines and Aviation industries.
