Atlanta Metropolitan State College is seeking a full-time TRIO Educational Specialist to support first-generation students. This role involves coordinating activities, providing academic advisement, and ensuring student success in college admissions and financial aid processes. Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor's degree and at least two years of relevant experience.
This is a full-time, twelve-month position that reports to the Director of the Educational Talent Search Program. Responsibilities include coordinating all student activities; conducting group and individual counseling sessions; providing academic advisement; assisting seniors with college admissions and financial aid; recruiting potential students; conducting workshops with parents and students; chaperoning all ETS activities; visiting target schools weekly to meet with students; assisting academic instructors with after-school tutoring supervision; maintaining student files; recruiting students for the program; interviewing parents of potential students; assisting the Director with orientation for new students and parents; maintaining relationships with target school counselors and other essential school personnel; coordinating pre and post testing of students; coordinating follow-up of program graduates; coordinating summer class schedules for students; assisting the Director with grant writing; assisting the director with program evaluation; other duties as assigned by the Director.
Campus Security Authority (CSA) Responsibilities
This position is classified as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) under the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. As a CSA, the employee will have specific responsibilities to report any Clery Act qualifying crimes that they are made aware of to the institution's designated office. CSA duties include promptly reporting incidents and cooperating with Clery Act compliance efforts, including attending required training.
Education: Bachelor's degree in English, Education, Social Science, Mathematics, Science, or a related field
Experience: at least two years of experience in an educational setting varies student populations to include first-generation and minors. Applicants should be knowledgeable of scholarship searches, FAFSA requirements, and college admissions procedures. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Preferred QualificationsTRIO experience preferred.
Proposed SalaryThe Salary Range of $46,500 - $48,000 is commensurate with qualifications and experiences contingent upon the continuation of grant funds from the U.S. Department of Education.
