In this primarily field-based role, you will spend 80% of your time (4+ days per week) working in the field, directly interacting with customers, Agents, Agency Staff, etc. On occasion, you may be asked to travel to an office location for in-person engagement activities such as team meetings, trainings, and culture events.

Position Compensation Range:

$97,000.00 - $164,000.00

Primary Accountabilities

• Handle litigation involving either the corporation and/or its insured within established corporate guidelines and the applicable code of professional responsibility.
• Analyze files as litigation progresses. Evaluate cases and seek settlement as necessary.
• Conduct discovery (e.g., written interrogatories, requests for production of documents, depositions).
• Conduct motion practice.
• Draft all necessary pleadings, papers, and briefs to advance litigation. Conduct necessary research in support of drafting activities.
• Handle litigated matters through trial, including mediations, settlement conferences, and arbitration.
• Advocate client positions in all forums (state and federal courts, alternative dispute resolution, administrative tribunals, and regulatory hearings) and circumstances, both formal and informal.
• Stay current on state statutes and court decisions and analyze how statutes and court decisions affect the interpretation and enforceability of policy provisions.
• May develop areas of specialty practice (e.g., property, workers' compensation, environmental law, commercial coverage).

Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements

• Experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service.
• Experience preparing civil pleadings, motions, discovery, and deposing witnesses.
• Litigation experience.
• Solid knowledge of rules of Professional Responsibility for the jurisdiction of practice.
• Knowledge of tort, contract, and insurance law.
• Admitted to the state bar in the practice location or within one year of hire if passing a bar exam; or as soon as practicable but no later than 60 days of hire for diploma privilege or in-house counsel registration.
• Juris Doctor degree.
