Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Skokie, IL is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Emergency and Critical Care department. This fast-paced role lets you apply your anesthesia, radiography, triage, and patient monitoring skills alongside a team of highly skilled veterinary professionals.

Pay ranges from $23.21 to $47.05 per hour, depending on licensing, experience, and progression through our competency assessment.

Qualifications

• Licensed veterinary technician with IL license.
• Experience in emergency/critical care.
• Ability to monitor anesthesia and triage emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia using monitoring equipment.
• Perform digital radiography with proper patient positioning.
• Triage emergency cases and monitor vitals (temp, HR, RR, BP).
• Place IV catheters and perform phlebotomy.
• Identify critical patients and initiate CPR when needed.
• Mentor and train co-workers in a fast-paced hospital setting.

• Weekday Night (Mon-Fri 6p to 8a): $4.00

• Weekend Day (Sat-Sun 8a to 6p): $4.00

• Weekend Night (Sat-Sun 6p to 8a): $5.50

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce,monitorand recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.

• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperatureheart rate, respiratoryrateand blood pressure.

• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.

• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heartand respiratory rate, temperature, bloodpressureand oxygen saturation.

• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.

• Identifypatients at riskforarrest andinitiateCPR.

• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications viaappropriate routesand duration.

• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.

• Place andmaintainfeeding tubes and central line catheters.

• Havea passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.

• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
