Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking a Triage Recheck Assistant to join the Emergency Department at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA. The role supports patient care, monitors vital signs, and assists with procedures in a fast-paced hospital setting.

You will work 24 hours per week on night shifts (7pm–7:30am) with every other Friday/Saturday; duties include patient safety, documentation, and collaboration with nurses and physicians. Requirements include GED/HiSET and BLS/EMT-B certifications.

Qualifications

• GED or HiSET is required.
• BLS certification (AHA) and EMT-B certification recommended.

Responsibilities

• Provide age-appropriate patient care and monitor vital signs.
• Assist with treatments and procedures, including applying dressings per hospital protocols.
• Maintain a safe environment and assist with patient mobility and comfort.
• Support patients and families with compassionate care and communication.
• Maintain patient logs, charts, and deliver documentation to appropriate departments.
• Collaborate with nursing staff to support efficient patient care and department operations.
• Maintain required certifications and attend mandatory training in safety and emergency procedures.

Baystate Health is seeking a Triage Recheck Assistantto join our Emergency Department team at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. Our Emergency Department team provides care to a diverse adult patient population, working closely with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver safe, compassionate, high-quality care.

Triage Recheck Assistant Responsibilities Include:

• Patient Care & Monitoring: Provide age-appropriate care, obtain vital signs, monitor patient conditions, and report changes to nursing staff.
• Clinical Support: Assist with treatments and procedures, including applying sterile and non-sterile dressings, following hospital protocols.
• Patient Safety & Comfort: Maintain a safe environment, assist with patient mobility, address allergies, and provide comfort measures.
• Patient Advocacy: Support patients and families, ensuring compassionate care and effective communication.
• Administrative Support: Maintain patient logs, manage charts, and deliver documentation to appropriate departments.
• Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with nursing staff and colleagues to support efficient patient care and department operations.
• Training & Compliance: Maintain required certifications, attend mandatory training, and follow hospital safety and emergency procedures.

Schedule Details

• Job Type: Part-Time,24 hoursper week
• Shift: Night, 7pm-7:30am
• Schedule: 12-hour shifts
• Weekend Requirement: Every other Friday and Saturday
• Holiday Requirements: Every other Holiday

Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate’s relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.
