Position Overview:
As an Assistant Deli Manager, you will oversee the deli department operations within a grocery store, working in partnership with the Deli Manager. Your responsibilities include driving labor efficiency, sales, and gross profit margins, either in collaboration with or in the absence of the Deli Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build and maintain customer satisfaction with the products and services offered by the company.
- Maintain a clean, fresh, and well-stocked sales floor department.
- In partnership with or in the absence of the Deli Manager, recruit, train, and supervise deli staff, ensuring adherence to procedures and customer service standards.
- Schedule and coordinate shifts to ensure proper coverage.
- Provide ongoing feedback, conduct performance evaluations, and offer training opportunities for deli employees.
- Monitor inventory levels, order deli products, and implement inventory control measures to ensure freshness and quality.
- Ensure all deli products meet safety and quality standards.
- Work with suppliers to select and maintain high-quality deli products.
- Oversee the preparation of deli items, including sandwiches, salads, and hot foods.
- Ensure attractive presentation of deli products in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Assist in setting and achieving sales targets and monitor sales performance to maximize profitability.
- Conduct safety training for deli staff and ensure adherence to safety standards.
- Monitor expenses, control waste, and optimize cost-effectiveness.
- Coordinate with store management regarding inventory, sales, and departmental issues.
- Adhere to all company safety standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
- Maintain refrigeration temperatures according to ServSafe standards.
Schedule:
- Weekday and weekend hours as needed.
Experience:
- Preferred: One (1) year of deli management or management experience.
- Preferred: ServeSafe certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
Skills:
- Physical abilities: Ability to lift up to 80-85 lbs, stand, bend, lift, and twist for up to 90% of shifts, work in various temperature environments, and walk on different flooring types.
- Strong communication skills: Ability to communicate clearly with peers and leaders.
- Organizational skills: Ability to fulfill customer orders promptly, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
