JOURNEYPERSON CARPENTER - TRI STATE AREA

General Summary of Position

The Journeyperson Carpenter builds, installs, and repairs structures, fixtures, and other items using materials like wood and steel with high quality and efficiency.

Essential Duties
  1. Measure height, width, length, and other proportions accurately.
  2. Perform basic material take-offs for proper material selection and quantity.
  3. Perform proper layout for work.
  4. Move building materials to the workspace.
  5. Work with materials such as wood, metal, plastic, fiberglass, and drywall.
  6. Utilize tools and materials to build or repair structural components.
  7. Join materials with nails, screws, staples, or adhesives.
  8. Use levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and lasers for accuracy.
  9. Check work to ensure it meets specifications and quality standards.
  10. Work with steel framing for interior partitions, soffits, exterior framing, and curtain walls.
  11. Build and install windows, roof systems, stairs, blocking.
  12. Cut, hang, and install drywall efficiently.
  13. Install ceiling grid systems, millwork, casework, doors, frames, hardware, bath accessories, in-wall blocking, exterior sheathing, and insulation.
  14. Always use PPE properly.
  15. Set up and safely operate company equipment.
Qualifications

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Participation in trade curriculum
  • 4+ years of field carpentry experience with commercial tools and materials
  • Knowledge of construction safety and PPE

Work Environment

Indoor and outdoor work on various construction sites, with exposure to elements and hazards such as moving mechanical parts, electrical risks, chemicals, and uneven surfaces.
