Job summary

CCI Inc. is seeking a driven junior engineer to join the trenchless design group in Tennessee. You will assist the project team with deliverables, calculations, drawings and cost estimates, under supervision.

The role involves document control, coordination across disciplines, and occasional travel to sites for information gathering and startup tasks. The ideal candidate holds an engineering degree and registration as an Engineer in Training, with 1+ year of related experience; HDD experience

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering required or equivalent
• Registration as Engineer in Training preferred
• 1+ year of relevant experience an asset
• Experience with HDD is an asset
• Summer student experience in related field an asset
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Class D driver’s license and vehicle suitable for travel to worksites
• Safety training, background check and drug/alcohol testing required

Responsibilities

• Assist with completion of design documents, cost estimates and project deliverables.
• Draft calculations and engineered drawings; prepare technical reports.
• Coordinate project requirements and maintain project administration.
• Support project schedules, cost management and quality control.
• Travel to sites for information gathering, as-building, P&ID walkdowns and start-up tasks.

Job description

Summary of Position

CCI is looking for a driven individual to be a part of CCI’s trenchless design group. This position is responsible for assisting the project team with all project deliverables, related documents and coordination of project requirements. Assist with designs, conduct calculations, draft documents and complete cost estimates in accordance with industry and CCI Inc.’s codes and standards. This is a junior/entry level position and the incumbent will work under the direct supervision and guidance of CCI’s Senior Project Managers and the US Trenchless Engineering Lead.

Accountabilities

• Assist with the completion of:

• DBM’s
• Cost estimates
• Detailed design calculations
• Detailed technical report preparation
• Project schedules
• Engineered drawing development & drafting
• Checking and sign-off
• Equipment sizing
• Specifications and datasheets
• Equipment and material requests for quotes, evaluation and award
• Project cost management
• Quality control and checking

• Technical coordination with various disciplines
• Assist with environmental and regulatory applications and submissions and stay informed of the latest directives and requirements
• Maintain and grow a working knowledge of the applicable design codes and standards including ASME B31.1 / 31.4 / 31.8, PRCI, ASCE MOP 108, etc.
• Assist with overall project execution and delivery including document control, project filing and project administration
• Assist with business development proposals and studies as required
• Occasional travel to site for: information gathering, as-building, P&ID walkdowns, start-up activities and troubleshooting tasks
• Occasional travel for fieldwork and training, including project construction monitoring and reporting
• Assist in developing and standardizing templates and commonly issued project documents/calculations to improve overall efficiency of the company’s operations

Qualifications

• Registration as an Engineer in Training
• 1+ years’ relevant experience an asset
• Experience with HDD an asset
• Summer Student experience in a related field an asset
• Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite - Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point
• Class D drivers license, and vehicle suitable for travel to worksites
• Safety training courses, background check and drug and alcohol testing required to work in the field. On the job training will be provided as needed.
