Job summary

CCI INC. is seeking a junior/entry-level engineer to join the trenchless design group. The role is field-heavy (approximately 95%), with the Houston, Texas office serving as a base when not in the field. You will assist with designs, calculations, and documentation while supporting the project team under senior PMs.

The position emphasizes on-site collaboration, safety, and coordination across engineering and construction teams, offering growth in HDD and pipeline projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
• Engineering In Training (EIT) registration or eligibility.
• 1+ years of relevant experience is an asset.
• Experience with HDD and pipeline construction is an asset.
• Summer student experience in a related field is an asset.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Class D driver’s license and vehicle suitable for travel to worksites.
• Safety training and drug/alcohol testing required to work in the field.

Responsibilities

• Act as the client’s representative on site in a professional manner.
• Review contract documents, codes, standards and legislation applicable to the scope of work.
• Participate in daily safety meetings and complete safety reports.
• Monitor site activities and collect as-built information.
• Assist with HDD design calculations and report deviations to Construction Manager.
• Communicate with construction and engineering groups and perform occasional engineering calculations.
• Maintain safety checklist and ensure equipment certifications.
• Coordinate Emergency Response Plan and training certificates as required.
• Keep records and liaise between construction and drilling contractor teams.
