Job summary

Christian Brothers Outdoor Services is seeking a reliable Tree Groundsman to support our tree-care crew in Grant, MI. This hands-on role develops skills in pruning, rigging, and equipment operation while emphasizing safety and teamwork.

You will assist with ropes and rigging, operate chippers and bucket trucks, and help maintain safe, organized job sites. Competitive pay and full-time year-round work are offered.

Qualifications

• Reliable, hardworking, and willing to learn.
• Comfortable working outdoors in changing weather.
• Able to lift, carry, and work on your feet throughout the day.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Previous tree-care, landscaping, or equipment experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license preferred and required for certain assignments.
• Ability to communicate clearly and work well with a team.

Responsibilities

• Load, organize, and inspect saws, ropes, rigging, fuel, PPE, cones, tarps, and hand tools
• Report equipment damage, leaks, missing tools, or unsafe conditions
• Help establish work zones, drop zones, traffic control, and property-protection plans
• Maintain clear communication with the climber and crew leader
• Manage brush and logs so landing areas remain safe and organized
• Assist with ropes and rigging under trained crew leadership
• Watch for pedestrians, vehicles, pets, utilities, property hazards, and changing site conditions
• Safely handle branches, brush, ropes, and rigging equipment
• Operate and maintain chippers, bucket trucks, and other equipment as trained
• Keep job sites clean, organized, and safe
• Anticipate upcoming tasks and help prevent unnecessary downtime
• Assist with lawn and landscape work as needed
• Use mapping or GIS tools to document tree locations when required
• Follow all company safety procedures
