Job summary

SavATree in Colorado Springs is seeking a Groundsperson for the Climber-In-Training Apprentice Program. You start in ground duties and enroll in a 2-year apprenticeship through Front Range Community College, attending classes monthly from November through March.

This is a full-time role with benefits, PTO, and a 401(k) savings plan. You will work outdoors on a General Tree Care crew, performing pruning, removals, and safety tasks while learning climbing techniques, chain saw use, pest and tree

You will start as a Groundsperson and then be enrolled in the 2 year apprenticeship program through the Front Range Community College. You will attend classes once a month from November-March. The General Tree Care Team are the muscle of our operation. These industrial athletes work together to provide high-quality tree care, helping to maintain and preserve the overall health of our clients’ landscapes.

In this role, team members have the opportunity to work outside and visit beautiful properties in their community. The Tree Care team applies expertise in climbing, pruning, and safety to ensure the health and well-being of each client’s landscape.

In this role you will start as a Groundsperson and then be enrolled in the 2 year apprenticeship program through the Front Range Community College. You will attend classes once a month from November-March where you will trained in everything from climbing techniques, chainsaw safety, plant identification, pest identification, tree identification etc. This is a full-time position with full benefits.

What a Day Is Like

Daily focus is working together on a General Tree Care crew to provide high quality tree care to our clients. The Tree Care Team is involved in all aspects of pruning, removals, cable bracing and other concepts related to tree care. Team members are able to safely operate all equipment and perform the assigned job tasks while also providing excellent service to our clients.

Someone With

• A desire to work outdoors
• A Valid U.S. Driver’s license to drive company vehicles

Someone Who Wants To Learn

• How to climb trees (without spurs!)
• Proper tree pruning techniques
• How to identify native and introduced tree and shrub species and have a working knowledge of each species’ characteristics
• Tree care safety standards
• Chainsaw and equipment operation

What Is Essential

• Valid Driver’s license with clean DMV record
