SavATree in Boulder, CO is seeking a Climber-In-Training Apprentice for a full-time Groundsperson role and a two-year FRCC apprenticeship. You will start on the ground and advance through climbing training while earning benefits.

The program includes monthly classes November–March, hands-on tree care experience, and opportunities to work on beautiful properties in your community with safety as a priority.

Qualifications

• Must love outdoor work.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license.
• Willing to learn climbing techniques.
• Chainsaw operation familiarity is a plus.
• Knowledge of tree species and safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist General Tree Care crew with pruning, removals, and support tasks.
• Safely operate equipment and follow safety protocols.

Our Climber-In-Training Apprentice Program is designed to give you the opportunity for an intensive and interactive training journey to join the climbing team at SavATree. You will start as a Groundsperson and then be enrolled in the 2 year apprenticeship program through the Front Range Community College. You will attend classes once a month from November-March. This is a full-time position with full benefits. SavATree's mission is to take our passion for nature and keep this country's outdoors beautiful and flourishing. Through our comprehensive tree, shrub, and lawn care we work hard to make sure our discerning customers have attractive, healthy and cared-for green spaces to enjoy. Over the last thirty years, we have opened new offices across the country, and we are looking for people who want to grow with us. The General Tree Care Team are the muscle of our operation. These industrial athletes work together to provide high-quality tree care, helping to maintain and preserve the overall health of our clients' landscapes. In this role, team members have the opportunity to work outside and visit beautiful properties in their community. The Tree Care team applies expertise in climbing, pruning, and safety to ensure the health and well-being of each client's landscape. In this role you will start as a Groundsperson and then be enrolled in the 2 year apprenticeship program through the Front Range Community College. You will attend classes once a month from November-March where you will trained in everything from climbing techniques, chainsaw safety, plant identification, pest identification, tree identification etc. This is a full-time position with full benefits.

What a day is like

Daily focus is working together on a General Tree Care crew to provide high quality tree care to our clients. The Tree Care Team is involved in all aspects of pruning, removals, cable bracing and other concepts related to tree care. Team members are able to safely operate all equipment and perform the assigned job tasks while also providing excellent service to our clients.

What kind of person are we looking for?

• A desire to work outdoors
• A Valid U.S. Driver's license to drive company vehicles
• Someone who wants to learn: How to climb trees (without spurs!)
• Proper tree pruning techniques
• How to identify native and introduced tree and shrub species and have a working knowledge of each species' characteristics
• Tree care safety standards
• Chainsaw and equipment operation

This position pays between $20-24/hr depending on experience + benefits + PTO +401K
