Job summary

Gabriel Group in Martinez, CA is seeking a Tree Care Manager to oversee sales and drive growth within the tree care division. You will supervise direct reports, coordinate field and office activities, and ensure adherence to contracts and budgets.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a valid California driver’s license with a passing driving record.
  • Bachelor's degree or comparable experience; Certified Arborist License preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Tree Care Sales and supervise direct reports.
  • Lead sales efforts, attend homeowner meetings, and recruit staff.
  • Prepare estimates, presentations, and contract renewals.
  • Maintain prospect/territory records and generate new leads.

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for managing and selling tree care work under the direct supervision of the Associate Branch Manager. The Tree Care Manager coordinates and directs sales and works in a manner consistent with company standards and contractual obligations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • In charge of the management of Tree Care Sales and responsible for direct reports.
  • Works well with others in a team environment and is helpful and courteous to customers.
  • Attends homeowners’ meetings when necessary.
  • Recruits, interviews, and evaluates potential employees.
  • Directs, counsels, and evaluates direct reports.
  • Possess and maintain a company planner.
  • The Tree Care Manager must set forth by example, the highest standard of commitment and dedication.
  • Ensures quality processes and results based on specifications, contract agreements, customer budgets, expectations, and company profitability.
  • Attends pre-bid meetings when appropriate.
  • Responsible for bid presentation and sales.
  • Prepare estimates, collect production data, sales presentations, negotiating and renewing contracts.
  • Responsible for keeping track of all prospects in territory, keeping regular contact with all prospects, and identifying new prospects. Prospects include anyone who can directly or indirectly influence, refer, or make decisions regarding tree care.
  • Responsible for making and keeping regular appointments with prospects and accounts. The purpose of an appointment is to sell new business and services or to renew existing
  • Responsible for pre-qualifying all potential customers before sales process begins. Information obtained using established company sales interview techniques.
  • All prospect, account and territory assignments are at the discretion of the company. All records and reports are the property of the company and will be surrendered upon reassignment or termination.
  • Create and maintain an ongoing prospecting and lead generation system.
  • Initial appointment with a prospect. The purpose of this interview is to obtain information about the prospect and the prospects point of view of the landscape. This is the qualitative part of the sales process.
  • The district’s primary and lead person during the presentation of the company proposal for Tree Care Services.
  • Complies with all established company policies and procedures.
  • Will be provided through the course of work, confidential and proprietary information. To ensure the protection of this information, will be required to agree and sign a nondisclosure, noncompetition agreement.
  • As a salaried exempt employee, may be required to work after hours or on weekends to accomplish goals.
  • Plans with Regional Branch Manager for goals and objectives for the areas upcoming year. Determine personnel needs for projected growth and expansion.
Requirements
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Possess and utilize good interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with customers, employees, and managers.
  • Must be able to read and write English.
  • Must possess a validCaliforniadriver's license with a driving record acceptable to the Company's insurance carrier.
  • Must be competent in basic computer skills utilizing Microsoft Windows 95, Office 97, Excel,PowerPointand Project Manager.
  • Able to stand, or sit using office equipment, such as a computer terminal, photocopier, fax machine, and multi-extension telephone occasionally.
  • Vision capabilities required by this job include the ability to adjust focus for close vision work using a computer monitor occasionally.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or comparable work-related experience.
  • Hold and maintain Certified Arborist License.
WORKING CONDITIONS WHILE PERFORMING THIS POSITION'S ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Outdoor physical labor in temperatures ranging from cold 30°+ to a heat of 100°+ and exposure to light rain.
  • Limited weekly work within an office environment.
  • Exposure to dust, pollen, chemicals, noise, and pollutants related to the landscape industry (fertilizer, pesticide, etc.)
  • Machinery/equipment noise, traffic and hazards related to the landscape/tree care industry in a busy commercial environment.
