Job summary

The J.M. Smucker Co. Topeka plant is hiring a production operator to make emulsions, coatings, and dry mix ingredients in a fast-paced food production setting. The role features rotating shifts, a $28.10 per hour start rate and a $1,000 retention bonus.

You will monitor systems, perform start-ups/shut-downs, assist with maintenance, maintain sanitation, and operate forklifts. Requires a high school diploma or GED and willingness to work up to 12-hour shifts, possibly 7 days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to work alone/unsupervised and make decisions.
• Knowledge and experience in use of tools.
• Basic safety knowledge and reading diagrams/schematics.
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changes.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to operate equipment.

Responsibilities

• Make emulsions, dye, and coating.
• Add hand-adds to dry mixes.
• Run and monitor production systems continuously.
• Perform weekly start-ups, shut-downs and clean-ups.
• Assist with minor maintenance of equipment and sanitation.
• Operate forklift, pallet jack and hand truck.
• Work rotating shifts and up to 12-hour days.
