Job description

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of State-Operated Specialty Care, Bureau of Civil Commitment Unit for Sex Offenders (CCUSO) is seeking a Treatment Program Supervisor to join our team! This is a full-time position with a Wednesday - Saturday, 12:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. schedule and opportunity for advancement, growth, and development.

The Treatment Program Supervisor is considered the operations supervisor of the facility, oversees Psychiatric Security Specialists, and ensures a safe and secure environment for the patients committed to the facility. The position investigates patient behaviors, correlating these behaviors with the patient’s dynamic risk factors, and oversees employee conduct, time keeping, and requests for leave. Treatment Program Supervisors are expected to know and follow all policies and procedures that govern the facility and may have other duties delegated to them as prescribed by management and administrative personnel.

CCUSO provides a secure, long-term, and highly structured setting to treat sexual offenders who have served their prison terms, but, in a separate civil trial, have been found likely to reoffend. The facility provides state-of-the-art treatment to patients to lower their risk of re-offending and to release them from confinement as quickly as possible. There is a full range of diagnostic, treatment, and rehabilitative services focused on addressing the conditions impacting a patient’s likelihood of re-offending. Designated positions in this job class require applicants to obtain the required Commercial Drivers License and endorsements within a period of time as determined by the appointing authority at the time of hire.

* For purposes of qualifying, "professional employment" shall be exemplified by having responsibility for assessment and diagnosis of client problems and needs, developing a plan of treatment, evaluating client progress toward meeting treatment goals, modifying treatment objectives, etc. Work at this level usually requires a prerequisite four or more years of post high school educational training in the behavioral, social, or health sciences. Examples of experience at this level includes but is not limited to Social Worker, Registered Nurse, and Occupational Therapist.
