Job summary

Valero’s Treasury Internship is a rotational, 18-month assignment in San Antonio, TX, with six-month rotations across Credit, Cash Management, and Finance & Investments. The on-site program provides exposure to treasury functions and SAP-based processes.

Interns work 40 hours/week during summer and 20 hours/week during spring and fall semesters, with pre-employment background checks and a possible physical.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Graduation date between May 2028 and December 2028.
• Successful completion of Accounting I and Accounting II coursework.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week during the summer.
• Ability to work 20 hours during the spring and fall semesters.
• Able to work in person at the Valero Headquarters in San Antonio.
• Pre-employment background check, drug screen, and possible physical.

Responsibilities

• Assist with reconciling accounts, early drafts, and exposure reports.
• Assist with customer financial analysis, ratios and metrics.
• Assist with pulling and analyzing various credit reports.
• Assist with bank administration, budgeting, compliance and reporting.
• Assist with cash entries in SAP and daily reconciliation.
• Assist with cash forecasting, debt administration, and investments analysis.

The Treasury Internship is a rotational opportunity for motivated students to get exposure to the different aspects of the Treasury department at Valero. This on-going internship opportunity provides a six-month assignment in each of the following areas within the department. This is an onsite and in-person internship located in San Antonio, TX and is intended to be an 18-month assignment, pending business and performance needs.

Credit

• Assists with reconciling accounts, early drafts, preparing exposure reports.
• Assists with customer financial analysis, ratios and metrics.
• Assists with pulling and analyzing various credit reports.

Cash Management

• Assists with bank administration, account verifications, budgeting, compliance and reporting.
• Assists with outgoing payment processing, daily reconciliation and recording cash entries to SAP.
• Assists with the recording of cash receipts in SAP.

Finance & Investments

• Conducts cash forecasting, and investment and foreign exchange analysis
• Assists with debt administration, compliance and reporting for the company
• Assists with analysis and reporting of investments in Valero’s financial benefit plans

This position is hourly nonexempt status, which means you are eligible for overtime pay.

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Accounting or Finance required.
• Graduation date between May 2028 to December 2028
• Successful completion of Accounting I and Accounting II coursework, required
• Ability to work 40 hours per week during the summer required.
• Ability to work 20 hours during the spring and fall semesters required.
• Ability to work in person at the Valero Headquarters office a few hours each day between the hours of 7:30am - 5:00pm each day of the work week (Monday - Friday), preferred.
• Able and willing to work in-person at the Valero Headquarters in San Antonio during the internship required.
