Job summary

Virginia Paving Company is seeking an Accounting Clerk to process daily incoming payments and support Treasury duties in a busy office environment in Chantilly, VA. The role requires accurate payment posting, cash reconciliation, and collaboration with management to ensure timely processing of transactions.

The position emphasizes solid Excel skills (PivotTables) and the ability to handle large workloads, with opportunities for benefits and growth within a respected asphalt paving contractor

Qualifications

• Associate degree in accounting or experience and knowledge of accounting and journal entries is preferred.
• Excellent communication with managers and colleagues.
• Advanced Excel skills including PivotTables are required.
• SAP experience is preferred.
• Ability to meet deadlines and handle large volumes of work.

Responsibilities

• Treasury Management - Posting and clearing daily payments (Cash, Credit Card, ACH, and Wire Payments)
• Compiling daily cash report
• Providing Accounts Receivable support across the business
• Being flexible to work beyond regular work hours as required during the month-end close
• General Accounting duties

General Description

The Accounting Clerk will process daily incoming payments as well as other administrative duties for the Treasury Department.

Key Duties

• Treasury Management - Posting and clearing daily payments (Cash, Credit Card, ACH, and Wire Payments)
• Compiling daily cash report
• Providing Accounts Receivable support across the business
• Being flexible to work beyond regular work hours as required during the month-end close
• General Accounting duties
• Other administrative duties as needed

Requirements and Qualifications

Education and Experience

• A minimum of an associate degree in accounting or experience and knowledge of accounting and journal entries is preferred.
• Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with Managers and fellow employees
• Excellent computer skills, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PivotTable, are required
• SAP experience is preferred
• Understands deadlines
• Ability to handle large volumes of work

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to sit and/or stand during a regular work shift of at least eight hours per day.
• Employee is occasionally required to stoop, bend, walk, crouch, and climb.
• Ability to lift at least 25 pounds.
• Continuous mental attention required to complete tasks in an efficient manner.

Work Environment

• Work is performed primarily indoors (office setting) and occasionally outdoors (construction and asphalt sites).
