Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job description

Our client is an organization in the Milwaukee area looking for a Treasurer. Our client is looking for an accomplished treasury leader with deep expertise in cash management, liquidity, foreign exchange, and corporate finance. This individual will serve as a strategic partner to senior leadership while maintaining a hands‑on approach to treasury operations. The ideal candidate will bring the financial judgment and leadership necessary to support capital allocation, strategic investments, acquisitions, financing activities, and continued enterprise growth.

The Treasurer will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the organization's treasury function, including cash, liquidity, capital structure, financing, and financial risk management.
  • Develop and execute treasury strategies that support business objectives, financial flexibility, and long-term growth.
  • Oversee global cash positioning, forecasting, and liquidity planning to ensure appropriate funding for operational and strategic needs.
  • Manage foreign exchange exposure and related risk management activities, including the development and execution of appropriate hedging strategies.
  • Partner with executive, business, and functional leaders on capital allocation decisions and significant investment opportunities.
  • Provide treasury and financing expertise in support of acquisitions and other strategic transactions.
  • Evaluate funding alternatives and develop financing strategies for acquisitions, investments, and broader corporate initiatives.
  • Maintain and optimize relationships with banks, lenders, and other external financial partners.
  • Evaluate the organization's capital structure and recommend strategies related to debt, liquidity, and financing.
  • Lead debt management activities, including compliance with financing agreements, covenant requirements, and related reporting.
  • Develop financial analyses and recommendations to support strategic decision-making and enterprise growth initiatives.
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage financial risks related to liquidity, interest rates, foreign currency, and other treasury exposures.
  • Establish effective treasury policies, controls, and processes that support strong governance and risk management.
  • Monitor market conditions and economic developments that could impact financing, liquidity, foreign exchange, or capital decisions.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Accounting, Finance, Tax, Legal, and business leadership on treasury and strategic initiatives.
  • Drive improvements in treasury systems, processes, reporting, and overall operational effectiveness.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor treasury professionals while maintaining the ability to work directly within the details when necessary.

The Treasurer will possess the following:

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field required; MBA, CTP, CFA, or other advanced credentials preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive treasury, corporate finance, or related experience, including significant leadership responsibility.
  • Deep experience with cash management, liquidity planning, and treasury operations required.
  • Foreign exchange experience required, including experience identifying and managing currency-related exposures.
  • Strong understanding of capital structure, debt, financing strategies, banking relationships, and financial risk management.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as both a strategic leader and hands‑on treasury professional.
  • Experience partnering with senior leadership on capital allocation, strategic investments, and enterprise-level financial decisions.
  • Experience supporting M&A and acquisition financing strongly preferred.
  • Public company treasury experience preferred.
  • Experience within an acquisitive or growth-oriented organization is highly desirable.
  • Strong financial and analytical judgment with the ability to evaluate complex financing and investment decisions.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to develop teams and influence across functions.
  • Executive-level communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to effectively interact with internal leadership and external financial partners.
  • Proactive and commercially minded with the ability to balance strategic priorities, financial discipline, risk management, and operational execution.
