Job summary

Veolia Water Technologies in the United States seeks an Operations Technician to cover vacations and absences across our wastewater facilities. You will train local technicians, supervise day-to-day operations, and support new account start-ups while maintaining safety and regulatory compliance.

You will operate pumps and valves, collect samples, and log data to optimize plant performance. The role requires flexibility for day and night shifts and travel within the region.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years of experience in wastewater treatment plant operations or related field.
• Preferred: experience in a traveling work role.
• Operational experience with site-specific equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities

• Maintain complete operational coverage of Veolia-operated facilities in your region during vacations and unplanned absences.
• Cover day and night shifts with flexible scheduling as needed.
• Develop and mentor local technicians within your region.
• Ensure industry standards and Veolia best practices are used at facilities.
• Support new account start-up projects as they arise.
• Provide troubleshooting support to technicians for process issues.
• Operate pumps, valves, and motors to regulate wastewater flow.
• Collect and test wastewater samples to determine concentrations and impurities on a defined testing frequency.
• Keep accurate records of client data and process parameters.
• Analyze lab data to identify potential treatment issues and implement changes.
• Coordinate with other operators across multiple facilities.
• Participate in team meetings and provide clear instructions to the team.
