The Role

The Traveling Superintendent oversees the operations of construction projects, from planning to completion. The individual is responsible for supervising all subcontractors and ensuring projects are completed on time, accurately, with a high level of workmanship, and within budget. They promote, execute, and adhere to the company’s safety program and encourage safety as a culture across employees, subcontractors, and project team members.

Qualifications
  • 4+ years’ experience in the construction industry with a commercial or industrial general contractor.
  • Must have previous experience managing multiple trades and numerous craft personnel.
  • Previous experience managing heavy civil projects and/or complex infrastructure projects is highly desired.
  • Previous experience with Federal, State, or DOT contracts and specifications is highly desired.
  • Ability to manage all resources, including vendors, subcontractors, time, and more, and to prioritize tasks to meet tight deadlines and deliver high-quality projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • Understand structural design and intent as it relates to construction; read, comprehend, and execute project specifications, blueprints, and related contract documents.
    • Adapt to frequent changes in a fast-paced environment; work and think independently, problem-solve, and lead others.
    • Recognize skilled and unskilled trade talents and weaknesses; demonstrate integrity aligned with Centennial’s core values.
    • Collaborate and work effectively in a team with people of diverse backgrounds and styles.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills; present information clearly and professionally.
    • Adapt to evolving technology, design, means and methods; familiarity with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project ProCore, Adobe, and other construction systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field is highly desired.
Responsibilities
  • Project Oversight: Collaborate with Project Manager to review project scope; lead the project team in general contracting work (including foundations, concrete, structures, shoring, excavation, deep foundations, drainage, utilities, and other trades); coordinate logistics of the site; complete daily project reports; ensure compliance with project specifications and regulations; obtain required permits and licenses; manage punch-lists and project closeout; maintain ongoing communication with project stakeholders; develop safety and work plans and ensure compliance; regularly inspect work for quality and timeliness; provide progress reports and recommend plan modifications to meet budget and schedule.
  • Subcontractor Management: Supervise and coordinate subcontractors, craft workers, and other project team members per Centennial's processes and procedures.
  • Scheduling: Outline project timetable with Project Management, update schedules as needed, prepare weekly and monthly micro-schedules, and ensure milestones and completion dates are met.
  • Safety: Ensure compliance with Centennial’s Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) guidelines and all local requirements (OSHA, USACE EM385.1.1, etc.).
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Travel: This role will require ongoing travel to support projects in various locations across the United States. The employee will drive between project sites that are often miles apart from the assigned office location.

Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • Work in an office environment with site visits; conditions may include varied weather.
  • The following physical demands represent essential functions: ability to walk uneven terrain, sit, stand, walk, talk and hear; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, squat, or reach; frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds; vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Compensation

The compensation range for this role takes into account factors including experience, training, certifications, education, and business needs. It has not been adjusted for geographic differential. It is not typical to be hired at or near the top of the range. The compensation range for this position is $68,052.00 - $156,330.00.
