Job summary

JRM Construction is seeking a Traveling Superintendent to oversee field operations on interior commercial and high-end renovation projects. You will supervise field staff, coordinate schedules, and manage subcontractors while maintaining safety and quality standards.

The role requires extensive travel (8–12 weeks at a time) with strong leadership, excellent communication, and the ability to prioritize and adapt in occupied spaces.

Qualifications

• At least five years of relevant experience as a Superintendent, preferably in interior commercial general contracting.
• Must have a proven record of managing complex projects in occupied spaces.
• Capable of managing/coordinating multiple quick turnaround projects simultaneously.
• Demonstrate proficiency in reading commercial construction plans and specifications.
• Willingness to travel upon request for 8-12 weeks within and out of state.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all daily field operations to ensure site safety, construction, progress, quality control, housekeeping, and daily log.
• Provide guidance, leadership and direct supervision of site staff, including assistant superintendents, laborers and other construction personnel.
• Manage the schedule, including weekly preparation of 2-week look ahead.
• Coordinate all subcontractors to meet the project schedule and minimize additional costs.
• Develop understanding of project strategy including financial goals, scheduling, and milestones.
• Ensure operations meet design/specifications, stay on schedule and within budget.
• Maintain open dialogue with project team about changes and deviations.
• Work with project management to keep an updated project schedule and cost targets.
• Run weekly project and subcontractor meetings.
• Manage RFI process and track resolutions through close-out.
• Exceed client expectations by understanding needs and culture.
• Promote positive subcontractor relations and fair treatment of vendors.
• Maintain and review punch list process and timely execution.
• Manage close-out and warranty responses with the project manager.
