Job summary

ARCO Design/Build is seeking an experienced traveling superintendent to oversee nationwide tilt‑up construction projects. The role requires leadership across site teams, adherence to schedules, and strong collaboration with project managers and owners.

We value a proactive leader with 5–25 years of tilt‑up supervision experience, a sharp focus on safety, and a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.

Qualifications

  • 5–25 years of experience as a lead superintendent on tilt‑up construction projects.
  • Ability to make decisions under tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills to plan and manage multiple activities and resources.
  • Demonstrated leadership with the ability to direct others and resolve conflicts.
  • Commitment to quality by evaluating processes and leveraging feedback for improvement.
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, Outlook and project scheduling programs.
  • Valid driver’s license in your state of residence.
  • Integrity and focus on exceeding client expectations while upholding company values.

Responsibilities

  • Attend post‑award review meetings to receive project details and pre‑planning information.
  • Work with the project manager to prepare construction schedules, staffing, and equipment requirements.
  • Direct and control the total construction project to meet specs and schedule while maximizing profit.
  • Assist with material shipment, shop drawing approvals, and material sample approvals.
  • Coordinate subcontractor activities to align with project schedules.
  • Notify supervisors and subcontractors of schedule changes promptly.
  • Help prepare progress and cost reports reflecting actual costs.
  • Review and approve requisitions, field PO’s, invoices, and major reports.
  • Communicate with owners and representatives, updating them on progress.
  • Collaborate with architects or owner representatives for long‑term company interests.
  • Hold jobsite meetings with project manager and regional manager.
  • Report progress, plans, and potential cost/schedule impacts to the PM.
  • Maintain a daily diary recording significant project facts and approvals.
  • Enforce the company safety program on all project phases.

Responsibilities
  • Attend the post‑award review meeting to receive project information and detail pre‑planning before construction.
  • Work with the project manager to prepare construction schedules, staffing, and equipment requirements.
  • Direct and control the total construction project to meet specifications and the allotted time schedule while maximizing profit.
  • Assist project manager/engineer with material shipment, shop drawing approvals, and material sample approvals.
  • Coordinate subcontractor activities to enable effective performance and integration with project schedules.
  • Notify supervisors and subcontractors promptly of any construction schedule changes.
  • Help prepare job progress and cost reports to accurately reflect actual costs.
  • Review and approve requisitions, field purchase orders, invoices, and other significant reports and documents.
  • Communicate with owners and their representatives, keeping them informed of construction progress.
  • Collaborate with architects or owner representatives in a mutually beneficial manner for the company’s long‑term interest.
  • Hold jobsite meetings with the project manager and the regional manager.
  • Report regularly to the project manager to provide updates on job progress, plans, and potential cost or schedule impacts.
  • Maintain a daily diary to record all significant project facts, events, conditions, visitors, owner representative contacts, commitments, agreements, and approvals.
  • Enforce the company’s safety program in all project phases and areas.
Working Conditions

The majority of work is conducted on job sites in an office trailer or existing structure. When outside the trailer or structure, employees must wear appropriate personal protective equipment as dictated by company safety policies and weather conditions.

Necessary Qualifications
  • 5–25 years of experience as a lead superintendent on tilt‑up construction projects, preferably on jobs that are a minimum of 100,000 square feet.
  • Ability to make decisions under tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills to plan and manage multiple activities and resources simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated leadership with the ability and willingness to face challenges, direct others, and address conflicts.
  • Commitment to quality by evaluating project processes, implementing necessary changes, and using customer input for continuous improvement.
  • Computer proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook, and project scheduling programs.
  • Valid driver’s license in your state of residence.
  • Integrity and a focus on exceeding customer expectations while supporting company values.
