Job summary

ARCO National Construction Company seeks Traveling Superintendents to run projects nationwide. You will lead crews, coordinate subs, and drive results while embracing ARCO's award-winning culture and ESOP ownership.

The role emphasizes hands-on leadership, preconstruction planning, scheduling with the project manager, and maintaining safety and profitability across diverse sites. Travel is required across the country.

Qualifications

• 5–25 years of experience as a Lead Superintendent.
• Willing to travel throughout the United States.
• Proficiency in construction management software.

Responsibilities

• Lead project teams and resolve conflicts on site.
• Attend preconstruction planning and gather project details.
• Develop construction schedules with the project manager.
• Oversee work to meet specs, schedule, and profitability.
• Coordinate subcontractors to hit timelines.
• Prepare progress and cost reports reflecting actual costs.
• Review requisitions, POs, invoices, and key documents.
• Maintain communication with the project manager about progress and issues.
• Complete daily project reports with key details.
• Enforce safety program and uphold quality and company values.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

• Demonstrate strong leadership with ability and willingness to face challenges, direct teams, and effectively resolve conflicts
• Attend the post‑award review meeting to gather project details and begin preconstruction planning
• Partner with the project manager to develop the construction schedule, including activity sequencing, manpower, and equipment needs
• Oversee the project to ensure work meets specifications, stays on schedule, and achieves target profitability
• Coordinate subcontractor activities to ensure effective performance within the project timeline
• Assist in the preparation of job progress and cost reports to accurately reflect actual costs
• Review and approve requisitions, field purchase orders, invoices, and key project documents
• Maintain constant communication with the project manager to keep them informed of job progress, plans, and issues that may impact costs or schedules
• Complete daily reports documenting key project details, events, conditions, visitors, client interactions, commitments, and approvals
• Enforce adherence to the company’s safety program in all phases of the project
• Lead with integrity and a commitment to quality, upholding company values and focusing on exceeding internal and external client expectations

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

• 5‑25 years of experience as a Lead Superintendent
• Willing to travel throughout the United States
• Proficiency in construction management software (e.g. Procore, Bluebeam, MS Excel)
• Possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in your state of residence
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including but not limited to: standing or walking for long periods of time, occasionally on uneven terrain, bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing stairs, and/or lifting heavy loads up to 50 pounds.
