Job summary

Placed is seeking a Traveling Superintendent to lead ground-up commercial and industrial construction nationwide. You will manage all on-site activities, coordinate subs, maintain schedules, control costs, and ensure safety and quality across multiple projects.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in superintendent roles, has led $20M+ ground-up builds, and can read drawings, manage MEP coordination, and oversee tilt-wall and concrete foundations.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of Superintendent experience in commercial or industrial construction.
  • Experience leading ground-up projects valued at $20M+.
  • Strong knowledge of concrete foundations and tilt-wall construction.
  • Building envelope systems and MEP coordination with scheduling.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Proven leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred; proficient with Procore/Bluebeam/Primavera P6/MS Project.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all day-to-day field operations from mobilization through closeout.
  • Lead and coordinate subcontractors, field personnel, suppliers, and inspectors.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules and milestone completion.
  • Enforce safety policies and OSHA regulations to maintain a safe site.
  • Coordinate structural steel erection, concrete activities, building envelope, MEP trades, and interiors.
  • Oversee quality control and compliance with contract documents and standards.
  • Conduct daily site meetings and safety briefings; review RFIs, submittals and change orders.
  • Identify and resolve field issues while minimizing schedule impacts.
  • Mentor Assistant Superintendents and field staff.

National General Contractor | Industrial, Cold Storage, Multi-Story & Structural Steel Construction

Position Overview

Our client is a nationally recognized general contractor seeking an experienced Traveling Superintendent to oversee large-scale ground-up commercial and industrial construction projects throughout the United States. This individual will be responsible for managing all on-site construction activities, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

The ideal candidate has experience leading complex projects including industrial facilities, cold storage/freezer warehouses, distribution centers, manufacturing plants, multi-story commercial buildings, and structural steel construction. This role requires extensive travel and the ability to relocate to project sites for the duration of each assignment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all day-to-day field operations from project mobilization through closeout.
  • Lead and coordinate subcontractors, field personnel, suppliers, and inspectors.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules while ensuring milestone completion.
  • Enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations to maintain a zero-incident jobsite.
  • Coordinate structural steel erection, concrete activities, building envelope, MEP trades, and interior finishes.
  • Oversee quality control to ensure work complies with contract documents, specifications, and company standards.
  • Conduct daily site meetings, subcontractor coordination meetings, and safety briefings.
  • Identify and resolve field issues while minimizing schedule impacts.
  • Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Owners, Architects, and Engineers.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, schedules, manpower logs, inspections, and project documentation.
  • Review drawings, RFIs, submittals, and change orders to proactively address construction challenges.
  • Monitor labor productivity and sequencing to maximize project efficiency.
  • Mentor Assistant Superintendents and field staff.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of Superintendent experience with a commercial or industrial general contractor.
  • Proven experience managing ground-up construction projects valued at $20M+.
  • Experience with one or more of the following project types:
  • Cold storage and refrigerated warehouses
  • Manufacturing facilities
  • Multi-story commercial buildings
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • Concrete foundations and tilt-wall construction
  • Building envelope systems
  • Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing (MEP) coordination
  • Scheduling and sequencing
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software (Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar).
