Job description

Traveling Construction Superintendent – Industrial & Commercial
Position Overview

A well-established commercial and industrial general contractor is seeking an experienced Traveling Superintendent to oversee ground-up construction projects across multiple U.S. markets.

This is a great opportunity for a Superintendent who enjoys traveling and wants to work on substantial ground-up industrial and commercial projects, typically valued at $5M+. The ideal candidate will have a strong field background, excellent subcontractor management skills, and the ability to take ownership of projects from mobilization through completion.

This is not a fit for candidates whose experience is primarily insurance restoration, renovations, tenant improvements, or small-box retail.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead day-to-day field operations on assigned ground-up commercial and industrial projects.
  • Manage subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel to maintain schedule, quality, and safety standards.
  • Coordinate daily construction activities and project sequencing.
  • Conduct site meetings and coordinate inspections and project logistics.
  • Review plans, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and other project documentation.
  • Monitor workmanship, materials, and overall project quality.
  • Identify and resolve field issues before they impact schedule or project execution.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, schedules, and project documentation.
  • Enforce project and company safety requirements.
  • Work closely with Project Managers and the project team throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Utilize Procore for project documentation, communication, scheduling, and field management.
  • Travel extensively to project sites and remain on-site for the duration of assignments.
Project Experience

The company has a growing pipeline of ground-up industrial and commercial projects throughout the United States, including work in the Midwest, Southeast, and Texas.

Projects are generally $5M+, with an emphasis on substantial ground-up construction rather than smaller retail or renovation projects.

Qualifications
  • 5–10+ years of commercial or industrial construction experience.
  • Proven experience leading $5M+ ground-up projects as a Superintendent.
  • Strong knowledge of construction means, methods, sequencing, and scheduling.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple subcontractors and trades.
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Procore experience is required.
  • Bluebeam experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of field operations.
Travel & Compensation
  • Extensive travel required to project sites throughout the U.S.
  • Typical schedule is 10 days on / 4 days off, although schedules may vary on certain public projects.
  • Per diem provided, with lodging covered through hotels or apartments depending on the assignment.
  • Strong pipeline of upcoming projects with additional Superintendent needs expected in the near future.
Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a seasoned Superintendent who has spent their career building—not renovating. Someone with experience running ground-up commercial or industrial projects, managing subcontractors in the field, and confidently operating in Procore will be a strong fit.
