Job description

Position Description

Oversee and direct design, preconstruction, engineering, and installation of Special Systems, including but not limited to work in specification sections Division 27 Telecommunication and Division 28 Electrical Safety, and security for aviation and airport projects.

Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage design, procurement, project budgets, quality, safety, engineering, coordination, scheduling, installation, commissioning, and close-out processes for Special Systems, including Division 27 Telecommunication and Division 28 Electrical Safety and Security, within aviation projects.
  2. Prepare scope of work documents, defining responsibilities for trades and scopes for special systems.
  3. Participate in GMP development, identify cost-driving design features, and recommend cost-effective alternatives aligned with scope.
  4. Review contract documents to mitigate risks, including schematic design through closeout documentation.
  5. Negotiate construction change requests leveraging contract knowledge.
  6. Ensure successful delivery of Special Systems through integration, construction support, coordination, quality control, and field engineering from inception to project closeout.
  7. Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders to ensure project alignment.
  8. Lead, supervise, and develop team members, providing coaching and guidance.
  9. Collaborate with Business Development for proposals and client presentations.
  10. Foster a team environment with continuous improvement initiatives.
  11. Participate in hiring, onboarding, performance feedback, and training activities.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in construction design, cost, logistics, and field installations of Low Voltage systems and IT Infrastructure, preferably in aviation.
  • Experience with major Special Systems and IT Infrastructure in airport construction.
  • Knowledge of TIA/EIA and BICSI standards.
  • Familiarity with project delivery methods like design-bid-build, design-build, and construction manager at risk.
  • Extensive system integration experience.
  • Supervisory experience with team motivation and development.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Advanced project management skills for managing high workloads under deadlines.
Physical Demands

Requires physical ability to climb stairs, ladders, work in construction sites, and lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and perform tasks in various environments, including construction sites and offices.

Work Environment

Primarily on construction sites with exposure to mechanical parts, heights, fumes, weather, and electrical hazards. Moderate noise levels and occasional work in office or remote settings. Must comply with safety policies.
