Job summary

Turner Construction Co. is seeking a seasoned Special Systems Engineer for a full-time traveling role supporting an Advanced Technology project including Data Centers.

Work spans Division 27 telecommunication and 28 electrical safety with sports venues, aviation, healthcare, and federal project types. Essential duties include leading Special Systems engineering, RFIs, cost estimates, and turnover, with close collaboration to design professionals and subcontractors.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 years of experience with progressive responsibility and exposure to construction design, cost, sequence, logistics and field installations of substantial Low Voltage and IT Infrastructure components.
• Experience with installation of one or more major systems and IT Infrastructure components.
• Working knowledge of TIA/EIA and BICSI.
• Basic system integration experience.
• Experience in Special Systems engineering principles and techniques.
• Ability to read, understand, and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedule.
• Knowledge of estimating, construction costs, scheduling, purchasing, and engineering principles and techniques, various building systems.
• Effective time management of competing demands and able to meet work objectives in a deadline driven work environment.
• Professional and effective written and verbal communications skills with ability to present to technical and non-technical audiences, and tailor communications appropriately.

Responsibilities

• Serve as key Special Systems Engineering resource to project, providing extensive knowledge of contract documents and codes.
• Establish and maintain Special Systems procedures with Design professionals, owners and subcontractors.
• Conduct Special Systems document reviews for constructability and QC; raise concerns and see to resolution.
• Prepare and manage RFIs and Contract Items List for Special Systems components.
• Prepare studies to support materials/methods and cost estimates.
• Prepare status reports and identify/ escalate risks to Project Manager.
• Schedule, conduct, and document Special Systems meetings.
• Participate in QC Plan and subcontractor change order processes.
• Oversee turnover, start-up, testing, commissioning, close-out, warranties, and records retention.
• May prepare procurement schedules and develop SOW for subcontractors.
