Job summary

icon Mechanical, headquartered in Granite City, IL, is seeking a Traveling Senior Project Manager for our National Project Management team. The role will manage complex mechanical projects (HVAC, piping, plumbing) from start to finish, traveling onsite and coordinating with design, engineering, and field teams.

Ideal candidate has 8+ years PM experience in mechanical construction, a Bachelor's degree, and strong knowledge of ASME/SMACNA standards, with proficiency in ProCore, BlueBeam, P6,

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience as a Mechanical Project Manager or in a similar role.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Working knowledge of ASME piping codes and SMACNA standards.
  • Construction management software: ProCore, BlueBeam, P6, Viewpoint, Autodesk, MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead complex mechanical projects from start to finish, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery.
  • Ensure site safety compliance and implement safety plans and pre-task planning.
  • Coordinate with Design and Engineering to develop permit drawings and build plans.
  • Ensure plans, specs, and materials align with submittals and RFIs.
  • Coach and develop other Project Managers on the team.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, define scope, issue contracts, manage changes.
  • Develop advanced project schedules for all contracted scopes.
  • Manage financial budget and forecast for the project.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Owners, General Contractors, Vendors, Subcontractors.
  • Communicate effectively with field personnel, fabrication shops, and service teams.

We are currently looking for a Traveling Senior Project Manager to join our National Project Management team located at our headquarters in Granite City, IL. Our ideal candidate for a Traveling Senior Project Manager is someone

with 8 + years of experience as a Mechanical Project Manager or in a similar role. They will be personable, high energy, and will bring a strong sense of leadership, direction, and commitment to our projects.

Primary responsibilities for icon’s Traveling Senior Project Manager include:

Managing and leading complex mechanical projects involving HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical pipe systems from start to finish, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the satisfaction of our clients.

Ensuring site safety compliance and requirements are executed – including, but not limited to, site specific safety plans, audits, pick plans, toolbox talks, and pre-task planning.

Coordinating with Design and Engineering Team to develop permit drawings, update progress drawings, generate record drawings, and establish overall build plan for project scope.

Ensuring that the plans, specifications, and details of the project, and materials have been delivered and are being installed based on the approved submittals and RFIs.

Managing and providing coaching to develop other Project Managers on the team.

Coordinating subcontractors through defining their scope of work, preparing, and issuing contracts, managing changes, and planning their schedule.

Developing advanced project schedules for all contracted scopes.

Managing the financial budget and forecasting of the project from start to finish.

Developing and maintaining relationships with key clients (Owners, General Contractors, Vendors and Subcontractors).

Communicating effectively with field personnel, fabrication shops, warehouse managers, Safety, and Service teams.

Primary qualifications for icon’s Traveling Senior Project Manager include:

8 + years of experience as a Project Manager in Mechanical Construction (HVAC, Piping, and Plumbing is a plus) or substantial experience managing large-scale mechanical projects is required.

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or proven experience in the Mechanical industry is required.

Working knowledge of ASME Piping codes and procedures

Working Knowledge of SMACNA construction standards

Strong knowledge of HVAC and Piping Systems, building products, construction details/design and relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards.

Familiarity with construction management software packages (Microsoft Office Suite, ProCore, BlueBeam, P6 is preferred, Viewpoint is preferred, and Autodesk is a plus) – overall strong computer skills.

Self-motivated with excellent time and project management skills.

Possesses a strong personal commitment for long-term and meaningful goals.

Demonstrates confidence in their knowledge and is committed to researching the answers to find the right solutions for things they do not know.

Working Schedule for icon’s Traveling Project Manager professionals include:

Ability to work 6 days a week with 10-hour shifts each day.

Ability to be onsite at the jobsite for duration of the project.

Eligible to travel home every 3-4 weeks for 2-3 days.
