Travel Requirements: As part of our National Healthcare Division—one of the premier hospital builders in the U.S.—this position requires 100% travel and temporary relocation for project assignments. The posted location may not reflect project placement, and geographic mobility is required. While relocation is expected early in your career, travel requirements will ease as you advance into a more senior role.


Role Summary

The Senior Project Engineer will manage a small project or a component of a large or more complex project with oversight. This position will fully apply JE Dunn processes and tools to manage project management, administration, and field execution for projects, supporting the company's strategy, vision, and values.


Key Role Responsibilities - Core
  • Perform assigned aspects of safety and quality plans, demonstrating commitment to an injury-free environment.
  • Coordinate with project QA/QC planning to ensure quality.
  • Participate in estimating and change management processes, including quantity take-off and review of subcontractor proposals.
  • Work on-site with the project team to monitor crew size, materials, and equipment.
  • Participate in punch lists, inspections, safety reviews, and documentation.
  • Post drawings and specifications with the most recent information.
  • Organize and participate in project meetings, preparing and sharing documentation.
  • Coordinate work inspections and prepare reports such as daily reports, progress reports, and schedules.
  • Perform site observations with project leadership.
  • Create procurement logs and track shop drawings and deliveries.
  • Provide progress updates to support scheduling.
  • Oversee project close-out, including punch lists and as-built drawings.
  • Build relationships and develop communication skills with tradespeople and team members.
  • Implement Lean practices and identify self-perform opportunities.

Key Role Responsibilities - Additional Core

In addition, this position will:

  • Lead preparation of estimates, scopes of work, and subcontractor selection.
  • Coordinate purchase orders and project schedule management.
  • Manage project risks, meetings, and subcontractor payments.
  • Support contract understanding and problem-solving.
  • Lead project close-out, including quality and schedule management, and provide mentorship.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Work accurately, communicate effectively, and proficiently use MS Office and project management software.
  • Understand organizational structure, construction processes, and team collaboration.
  • Apply Lean philosophy, labor productivity, and trade knowledge to optimize projects.
  • Lead teams, build relationships, and maximize profitability.

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field, or relevant experience.

Experience
  • At least 3 years of construction experience.

Working Environment
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, travel, work non-traditional hours, and endure extreme conditions.
  • Work may be at project sites or in an office, involving standing, walking, climbing, and other physical activities.
