Job summary

Advena Healthcare Staffing seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to join as Traveling Interim Director of Nursing (DON). You will lead on-site nursing operations during transitions, rapid needs, regulatory situations, or emergent vacancies in a skilled nursing setting.

The role requires an active RN license, 2–3 years in DON/ADON leadership, and travel flexibility. Strong CMS/regulatory knowledge and excellent leadership are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state-specific or multi-state).
• 2-3 years of DON/ADON-level leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of CMS regulations and survey processes.
• Ability to travel regionally with short notice.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Strong critical thinking and prioritization abilities.

Responsibilities

• Act as the acting Director of Nursing during interim assignments.
• Provide leadership to ensure high-quality resident care.
• Assess facility systems, workflows, compliance status, and staffing needs.
• Lead survey readiness, regulatory compliance, and corrective action planning.
• Maintain communication with the Administrator and Regional Nurse Consultant.
• Ensure adherence to CMS and state-specific regulations.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of nursing department leaders.
• Implement strong clinical standards, audits, QAPI, and quality measure systems.
• Model professionalism, accountability, and problem solving.
