Job summary

Middlesex is seeking a Traveling Rail Laborer to support heavy civil and rail construction at multiple project sites. This role requires frequent travel and hands-on labor, including site prep, material handling, excavation, and rail-related support. A strong safety mindset and teamwork are essential.

The position emphasizes performing duties outdoors, operating hand and power tools, and coordinating with supervisors and crew members to maintain efficiency and quality across projects.

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of Heavy/Civil Construction experience preferred.
  • Previous railroad, rail construction, or track experience strongly preferred.
  • Must be willing and able to travel extensively to project locations as assigned.
  • Must be available to work varying schedules, including nights, weekends, extended shifts, and overtime as project needs require.
  • Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with and promote all Safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Travel to and work at various project locations based on Company needs.
  • Perform general labor duties in support of rail and heavy civil construction operations.
  • Prepare and clean work areas to eliminate hazards.
  • Load, unload, move, and distribute materials and equipment.
  • Assist with installation and removal of construction and rail-related materials.
