Job summary

VCC is seeking a Traveling Project Engineer to drive project delivery from planning through final handover. This role offers exposure to all phases of construction and opportunities to advance into senior engineering or project management positions.

You will support the project engineering department by expediting materials, coordinating shop drawings, and maintaining current document sets while partnering with design teams and field personnel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or Engineering.
• Strong communication across all levels of the organization.
• Willingness to travel and relocate between projects (living expenses paid).

Responsibilities

• Directs, coordinates, and manages project correspondence, shop drawings, submittals, coordination, and material expediting.
• Develops and maintains an expediting schedule and material procurement list.
• Maintains current construction document sets for all parties.
• Assists Superintendent with as-built drawings and project closeout.
• Provides status reports on milestones and ensures material delivery on schedule.
• Manages delivery of subcontractor and supplier materials to the project.
• Interprets drawings and specifications, responds to RFIs, coordinates with Architect/Engineer.

Traveling Project Engineer

VCC is seeking a Traveling Project Engineer that will play a critical role in bringing projects to life-from initial planning through final delivery. This position offers unmatched exposure to every phase of the construction process, giving you the foundation to grow into senior engineering or project management roles.

The Project Engineering Department’s role is mainly expediting materials to the jobsite at the required time. They work with the design team to obtain all required materials approvals, including shop drawings, product data, test results, etc. Project engineering is involved in the project from start-up to completion, including deliveries, operations, communications, documentation and scheduling, and maintaining closeout requirements.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

• Directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for project correspondence, shop drawings, submittals, coordination, and expediting materials within area of assigned.
• Develops and maintains an expediting schedule and list of material procurement for the assigned project.
• Maintains a record set of construction documents ensuring that Subcontractors, Suppliers and all Site personnel have the most current drawings.
• Assist Project Superintendent in maintaining "as built" drawings.
• Provides reports on the status of project milestones and verify that all Supplies can meet project delivery date.
• Manages delivery of all Subcontractor and Supplier materials to the project.
• Ensures material received is for correct quantity and quality, and that all materials conform to the contract documents and approved shop drawings.
• Assists all Field personnel in the interpretation of drawings, specification, Requests for Information and questions for and from the Architect/Engineer.
• Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
• Evaluates design changes, specifications, and drawing releases and reviews the changes with the Project Superintendent.
• Prepares interim and completion project reports
• Provides status and progress reports to customer, project team, and management.
• For projects that require multiple Project Engineers, a Senior Project Engineer may be assigned to mentor/manage the other Project Engineers and give advice.
• Other duties as assigned.

What You Bring

• Construction Management, Architectural or Engineering Degree from a 4 year college.
• Highly motivated with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
• You must be willing to travel and relocate from project to project. (Living expenses paid)

What Will Set You Apart

• Bluebeam, Revit and Navisworks software experience a plus
• Comprehensive knowledge of construction documents
