Job summary

Marathon Pipe Line seeks a Construction and Maintenance Welder Technician based in Indianapolis, IN. The role involves welding around petroleum facilities, with 75% travel and overtime as needed, supporting multiple MPL operations.

The technician analyzes drawings, performs fabrications and field installs, conducts hydrostatic tests, and upholds DOT and safety standards across varied work sites.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Weld 6010/8010 downhill and 7018 uphill on mainline piping systems and pass welding qualifications.
• Remediate pipeline anomalies by sleeve installation and prefab welding per prints.
• Install prefabricated components in the field and complete in-service cutouts and repairs.
• Work in diverse environments: shop, right-of-way, bell hole, or pipeline facility.
• Analyze drawings, blueprints, specifications, and calculations to plan welding layouts.
• Pipeline maintenance including manual labor, bolting, torquing, pipe fitting, fabrication, and hydrostatic testing.
• Assist in spotting heavy equipment, rigging, line locating, and exposing lines during excavation.
• Perform pipeline coating removal and application per standards and procedures.
• Provide general maintenance on equipment.
• Support damage prevention and right-of-way relations.
• Perform emergency response activities.
• Provide field support to MPL processes and departments.
• Ensure compliance with DOT, Environmental, Safety, and Regulatory requirements.
